Fashion future on parade

02 copy As Vancouver looks toward another long and dreary winter, Vancouver Fashion Week is looking further ahead to the bright, fresh designs of the Spring/Summer 2009 collections.
For 15 seasons, Vancouver Fashion Week has been injecting a dose of glamour, inspiration and a little sex appeal into the West Coast fashion scene.
This year is no exception.
From November 4 to 9, in a spacious and funky warehouse across from Oppenheimer Park, the couture-conscious public is invited to view local, national and international fashions in a world-class environment.
“This year is looking fabulous,” says Vancouver Fashion Week producer Jamal Abdurahman.
“We have some of the boldest, hottest young designers as well as some major names in the industry coming out, including representatives from the big magazines and design houses.”
Featured designers this year include: Cheri Milaney, Denise Brillion, Porscia Yeganeh, Katherine Konieck, Kaylyn MacKenzie, T-shirt provocateur Duran, street 19 copydesigner Huffer USA, and Vancouver’s own R&U Styles.
Vancouver Fashion Week has been delivering a diverse and multicultural fashion experience since 2000, and is widely recognized as both a global platform for West Coast design and a major industry event that attracts thousands of Canadian and international designers, buyers, media members and young fashionistas.
“If you care about what you wear,” says Abdurahman, “this is the fashion show for you.”
